Do you think Trump can make America great again?
Donald Trump is an American businessman, politician, tv personality, author, and candidate for the Republican nomination for President of the United States in the 2016 election. He is the founder, Chairman and President of the Trump Organization, a multinational conglomerate and holding company for Trump’s ventures and investments, which are primarily related to real estate.
Trump began his career at his father’s company, Elizabeth Trump & Son, which focused on middle-class housing throughout the 5 boroughs on New York City. He was able to finance an expansion of the company’s holdings by convincing his father to be more liberal in the use of loans based on the equity in the Trump apartment complexes.
Throughout the 80s and 90s, he opened several towers, hotels and casinos in Atlantic City and New York City, including Trump Plaza Hotel, the Taj Mahal, Trump Parc and the refurbished Plaza Hotel.
Donald Trump Political Background
Trump’s primary role in politics has been as a donor, funding candidates from both sides of the aisle. He was an early supporter of Ronald Reagan, but has also been a long-time friend and contributor to the Clintons, picking Bill over George H.W. Bush in 1992. In 2000, he ran for President under the Reform Party banner, but soon disassociated from the party. In 2008 he said that Hillary Clinton would make a great president or vice-president. In 2012, he endorsed Mitt Romney.
Donald Trump Presidential Campaign
Donald Trump’s primary message has focused on isolationism and nationalism. He has strongly advocated for increasing border security and deporting illegal immigrants as well as withdrawing support from NATO. He supports the Second Amendment as well as fixing the federal background check system. He is pro-life, and is in favor of cutting federal funding for Planned Parenthood. He opposes Common Core and Obamacare, though he has been a proponent of a single-payer health care system in the past. Trump appears to be headed for the Republican nomination after John Kasich and Ted Cruz suspended their campaigns in May, 2016.
